Ackerman was a master at that, and I think that the first 50 records stand with Blue Note, and maybe ECM as one of the greatest highly-curated collections of music of the 20th century. The other albums you should look into are the new Will Ackerman compilations that were recorded and produced at his studios in Vermont. They are all outstanding. As so many have mentioned here , this music accompanied me everywhere I traveled a professional musician in those days hiked , paddled or biked.

It was played at home on family get-togethers , quiet intimate evenings , played for babies to lull them and myself into relaxation. This wonderfully adventurous , exquisitely written and performed music literally was the soundtrack to my life and much of it remains to this day a part of my regular music listening.

It has inspired me to write , encouraged me to make photographs another passion for many years been part of festive seasons and backyard cookouts.

The vision of Will Ackerman made it possible for these gifted and beautiful artists to enrich my life immeasurably. Today I listen to these albums with much gratitude and a bit of nostalgic sadness aware of the impact the music has had on my spirit. Johnny — This is a great resource.
